Boarding-  (West Ottawa/Almonte location)

We normally have about 30 horses on site. Their care is tailored to the individual need of the horse or pony: from 24/7 outdoors with hay and pasture for "rough-and-tumble" ponies, to stabling with blankets and special care for older or more fragile horses.

The prices for boarding, of course, reflects those differences in cost depending on care.

We have 30+ years' experience in hands-on care, including foaling mares, young horses and elderly horses.

For boarders and their beloved horses, we offer:

  • Nearly 300 acres of owned gorgeous trails, fields, pastures for trail riding.
  • 200 x 115' all-weather sand riding ring over crushed rock and gravel base for drainage.
  • Summer- Lush pasture (or drier paddocks for metabolic horses).
  • Winter, free-choice hay.
  • Paddocks with cedar shelter belts and/or a beautiful new three-sided wood shelter.
  • Beautiful Century log barns. Our main barn is restored, with System Fence stalls: high quality tongue and groove ash, and galvanized steel grills and have installed rubber mats.
  • Certified, experienced instruction
  • Additional Professional trainer/instructor on site
  • Professional equine care with experience with many special needs conditions.
  • 60' steel round pen with sand footing.
  • Heated water troughs in the winter months, for increased hydration.
  • An additional 60' log barn is under restoration.

Located in the heart of hunt country, at Raspberry Ridge Farms we offer live-on-site management by professional, very experienced horse people.

Our fat, happy outdoor horses have a natural, healthy lifestyle with tons of pasture and miles of trails and most spend the majority of their time outdoors. From $275 for horses. $90. donkeys/minis

All-weather sand ring over crushed rock and gravel drainage.Our indoor horses enjoy extra loving care, daily turnout with heated water in winter, and cosy rubber matted stalls..

We have a soft spot for special needs horses: those with Cushings, suffering from blindness, old horses (we've developed special feeding for those fragile metabolisms of horses in their 20's and 30's), retirees, lay-ups etc. who need individual programs and care. We try to keep their lives natural and have as much turnout as possible, but blankets and stabling in bad weather. You can expect to pay $425. plus feed for those needing a stall in bad weather.

Our boarders tend to be adults and a young people who do cross-country jumping, and mature adults: serious recreational riders who love to hack, but still sometimes take lessons and clinics. Some attend a few shows/events. They are a relaxed, supportive group who enjoy riding together and helping each other through schooling difficulties.

60' sand round pen for lunging/training/beginner riders.Our proximity to the esteemed Ottawa Valley Hunt makes us the perfect options for those who are members, or who wish to try the sport. We now have a few x-country jumps on site.

We offer and on-site certified level 3 coach who teaches all of the English disciplines and basic Western with a focus on Eventing. We also have a visiting coaches as well as guest clinicians for the serious rider.

Riding helmets, apparel, boots, saddles, blankets, horse treats etc. may be purchased at Harrowsmith Horse Country. 

Deliveries to the Farm can be arranged.

Boarding and Training- (See also TRAINING)
Full Board - Indoor board in our newly renovated barn, with System Fence stall systems, and rubber mats, use of all outdoor facilities (trails, jumps, round pen, riding ring). Daily turnout. Individual feeding plans. Grain extra. 425.00 + hst
Outdoor board - Horses have free choice pasture and/or hay. Use of all trails, lighted ring and outdoor facilities. Includes use of indoor arena. 275.00 + hst
Outdoor board with grain- Horses have free choice pasture and/or hay. Use of all trails, lighted ring and outdoor facilities. The extra charge is for the labour to feed your horse grain daily (A mere $1./day). The actual cost of the grain is extra. 305.00 + hst
Outdoor board for small donkey/mini pony 90.00 + hst
Training Board 60 Days- Does your horse need to be well started under saddle? For horses which DO NOT YET stand/lead/groom/pick up feed/longe: walk, trot, canter/ and who have not been backed, we require two months' training with our head instructor and our live-in trainer, in order to give your horse a good grounding, which will include, if you wish to participate, lessons with you on the horse. Price includes premium board for your horse. 60 Days' training

Training Board 30 Day- Does your horse need a refresher, or have you gotten him to the point where he is ready to ride? For horses which DO  stand/lead/groom/pick up feet/longe: walk, trot, canter/ and who have not been ridden OR who need a refresher, we offer training with our live-in level 3 head instructor, and our live-in trainer, in order to give your horse a good grounding, which will include, if you wish to participate, lessons with you on the horse. Price includes premium board for your horse.

Boarders/leasers may join one of of our weekly 1 hr group lessons up to four/month. This is a prepaid amount. (Lessons taken individually are by boarders are $35. each.)

** Specialized care i.e. bandaging, shampooing, medicating (on advice of a vet), broodmare monitoring etc. is available at additional cost of $35./hour, minimum $10.
